On Wednesday 5th August 2015 from 7pm we shall be hosting our first ever Richard Burton Night. Entry is free and our evening menu shall be served as usual in the restaurant area.
Having had one of the worlds most famous actors born here in the Afan Valley less than 2 miles from our pub we feel compelled to honour and remember the life and times of Richard Burton.
It will be an evening to celebrate his life and we shall show ‘snippits’ of interviews and short edited versions of some of the films that Richard appeared in over the years. There will also be readings of poems that have been written about him and poems that Richard himself wrote.
Richard Burton is an intrinsic part of the local history and he still has family living in the area. His brother Graham still lives here in the village of Cwmavon but unfortunately is too ill to attend. He also has relatives living nearby in Pontrhydyfen who will be on hand on the evening to tell stories and anecdotes of years gone by.
One man that will be sadly missed on the evening will be Glen Parkhouse, Glen was a life long friend of Richard Burton who passed away only last week so our condolences go out to his friends and family.
A few members of The Bois Afan Choir shall also be attending on the night and are always good for a song or two……..its in their blood! So it all makes for a good night.
A night to remember, an actor never to be forgotten!
See you there
