The accommodation here at The Brit is perfect for cyclists and walkers wishing to have convenient low cost place to stay in the Afan Valley.
Useful information about our bunk rooms
WHEN ARE WE OPEN?
Our bunk room accommodation is available to book all year round depending on availability. And access to the rooms can be at any time of the day or night. We do ask that you respect fellow guests and keep noise to a minimum if coming in late or leaving early in the morning.
HOW MANY ROOMS ARE THERE?
There are 3 rooms available. Each with 4 bunks in each. The beds have been made with solid wood and are very comfortable and sturdy. We do not book separate parties into the same room. So no matter how many beds you wish to fill from 1-4 if there are any empty beds we would not let anyone else stay in them.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Accommodation at The Brit Pub prices are as follows:
Monday to Thursday it costs £20 per person per night.
Friday to Sunday the cost is £60 per room, per night which means if 4 of you are staying it equates to £15 each.
WHAT ARE THE BEDS LIKE?
The beds have been made from solid wood and are very sturdy. No rickety noises as you get in or out. The mattresses are very comfortable and because of this you’ll have a great night’s sleep. We provide clean bedding that will be on the bed when you arrive so no need for any sleeping bags. The rooms themselves have been designed to be earthy and rustic. We have exposed some of the natural stone walls which works well with the look of the chunky wooden beds.
WHAT FACILITIES ARE PROVIDED?
There are 2 bathrooms on the same floor. Each fitted with a shower, toilet and a sink in each. A separate drying room is also available to hang any wet items. We also provide tea, coffee and a kettle. We do not provide towels and sadly we cannot provide breakfast. Access to the bunk rooms is via the back of the building and up the fire escape stairs.
WILL YOUR EQUIPMENT BE SAFE?
We have a lockable garage in which to store your bikes. Each room has a combination lock on the door. If you wish to leave any items in your room during the day it is advisable to make sure your room is locked.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO EAT AND DRINK IN THE PUB?
We would recommended that you eat with us as the food is very good. You don’t just have to take our word for it. We are Winners of The Good Food Awards and also have a high rating on Trip Advisor. We have great chefs who provide a choice of delicious home cooked food. From Pub classics at lunch time to more a la carte in the evening. Check out our food pages for examples of our menus (it is advisable to book a table at weekends). We also have a great selection of fine real ales, real ciders and a choice of wine should you wish to end your day with a relaxing drink.
WHY DON’T WE PROVIDE BREAKFAST?
We love to look after our guests here at The Brit, however we are a public house and all our staff work very long days and late nights.
We can recommend these 3 very local businesses although it is best to double check their opening times.
The Teapot Bistro Approx 5 mins away in the Squash Courts Building next to Cwmafan Football Club.
Mizens Cafe Approx 3 minutes from The Brit on Cwmavon High Street.
Afan Lodge Approx 5 miles away. They start breakfast from 7.30.
